The camera of the DJI Avata 2 is best-in-class for an FPV drone with a resolution of 12 MP, alongside a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor. The aerial footage it captures is thus, just stunning.

For the field of view, or FoV, it’s around 155°. This lets you shoot wide, cinematic angles while performing your favorite stunts. What I liked most about the Avata 2 is its low-light performance—every shot comes out brilliantly, irrespective of whether it’s a sunrise or a cloudy evening.

If I talk about the video quality, I would rate it 4.9/5. During my trial, I switched to the fastest possible speed and there were hardly any issues with it. So kudos to the DJI for this!

Flight Time

With a flight time of approx. 23 minutes on a complete charge, I was able to explore a decent ground size without worrying too much about running out of juice—a problem very prevalent in FPVs due to their comparatively smaller battery size.

Honestly speaking, it’s not common to get such a long battery life with drones designed for aerial stunts.

What’s even better is the PD fast charging. Thus, it takes a short break to get the drone’s 2150 mAh Intelligent Flight Battery juiced up again.

Another worthy candidate for the “best stunt drone” title is this DJI FPV, and its camera is one of the few reasons for it. Let’s understand.

Just like the Avata and Avata 2, it has a 12 MP sensor with the ability to record 4K videos at 60fps. Yes, it’s not on par with DJI’s high-end drones like the Mavic series, the resulting footage is still sharp and vibrant.

The FOV is 5° less here, at 150°, but you’ll notice very negligible to no impact due to it. There’s also a lens distortion feature (I never heard of this before, LOL) to reduce the fishereye effect, which proved handy for post-processing.

No drone in this world is 100% perfect, and the DJI FPV is no exception to it. Its only downside is that the camera is limited to JPEGs with no RAW mode. If you’re into casual filming while performing stunts, you need not bother about it. Relax!

Flight Time

The DJI FPV offers about 20 minutes of airtime, which isn’t groundbreaking but is optimal for an FPV drone. I found that this was enough time to practice stunts and get a few clips for my IG page.

Charging is quick, so downtime wasn’t a huge issue. Nevertheless, I would recommend investing in a couple of spare batteries if you want a completely uninterrupted flying session.

Control Range

The camera offers real-time transmission, though, which means you see everything happening as you fly the drone, giving you an immersive flying experience.

Whether you’re taking videos or just snapping some cool shots of your stunts, this 1080p resolution keeps the footage as sharp and vibrant as possible. The adjustable lens on the camera is a nice touch, since you can change angles up to 90°.

The main focus of the drone is flying and performing stunts, so you won’t miss capturing a still or recording a video while you’re practicing your skills and enjoying the flight.

But if you’re into high-quality footage for your SM pages or website, go for at least 1080p or 4K if the budget allows.

Keep in mind that the camera placement also matters. A forward-facing camera gives you a first-person view (FPV) of the flight, while adjustable cameras let you picture stunts from different angles.

If you want to know my preference, I prefer models with removable cameras because they are lighter for performing stunts and I can always reinstall them in a few seconds.
