Battery Life

Unlike the DJI Avata, the drone’s Intelligent Flight Battery aligns with other DJI drone batteries. 

DJI has significantly improved Avata 2’s flight time to 23 minutes from Avata’s 18 minutes, with the 2150 mAh capacity Intelligent Flight Battery. 

The battery life is even more remarkable than that of other FPV drones that offer 4-8 minutes of flight time.

Avata 2 supports 30W PD fast charging, which takes about 1 hour and 35 minutes to charge one battery fully using its included USB-C charger. 

The charging hub’s 60W power takes about 45 minutes to charge one battery. It also has DJI’s power accumulation function, consolidating the three batteries’ power into one. 

Note: When not using the battery for ten or more days, you should discharge it to 40-65% before storage. Ensure that the LED 3 blinks or lights up. Also, charge and discharge it at three-month intervals to maintain its active materials’ good condition and extend its longevity.

Camera Quality

The FPV (first-person view) DJI Avata 2’s excellent camera quality is one of the features that makes it a fantastic indoor drone. 

Avata 2 has a larger Type 1/1.3” sensor with 12 MP effective pixels compared to the 1/1.7 of its predecessor, DJI Avata.

Its camera’s lens has a fixed f/2.8 aperture, an ultra-wide angle with a 155° FOV, 12mm format equivalent, and 0.6 m to ∞ focus, mounted on a 1-axis gimbal.

The camera also captures still images in JPEG format, with the Single Shot mode being the only available option. 

Further, the camera has a D-Cinelike color mode, which offers a broader color palette for detailed chromatic adjustments but is limited to 8-bit color.

DJI Avata 2 films at 4K 30/50/60/100 fps, while 1080p@30/50/120fps and 2.7K@30/50/60fps/120fps are available slow-motion footage. Its bit rate is 130 Mbps.

It’s crucial to note that a superior DJI drone may be a better option for still images than an FPV drone, like Avata 2. 

Flight Range

The drone offers 04 long-range signal transmission technology with a flight distance of 13km, an improvement from its predecessor’s 11.6 km. 

Thus, you can enjoy ultra-responsive control, and smooth 1080p/30fps/50fps/120fps live feeds from as far as 13km. 

Speed and Maneuverability

Like its DJI counterparts, Avata 2 has an excellent top speed: 27 m/s (Manual mode), 16 m/s (Sports mode), and 8 m/s (Normal mode). The speeds apply near the sea level with no wind.

Its maximum ascent and descent speeds in Normal and Sport modes are 6m/s and 9m/s, respectively. Avata 2’s maximum wind speed is 10.7 m/s (Level 5).

It’s worth noting that you shouldn’t exceed 19m/s in Manual mode within the EU.

Avata 2’s Goggles 3 feature allows direct on screen real-time visibility for simple and fast adjustments, enhancing maneuverability.

Obstacle Avoidance

DJI Avata 2 doesn’t support obstacle avoidance. Instead, it has downward and backward visual sensing in Normal and Sport modes to enhance flight safety.

Battery Life

Key features indicate very slight changes in the DJI Mini 4 Pro battery from the Mini 3 Pro. 

The standard Mini 4 Pro battery’s flight time equals its Mini 3 Pro counterpart’s 34 minutes. Although the battery lasts about 20-25 minutes in the real world, it’s a considerable duration for most drone enthusiasts.

Otherwise, if you anticipate longer flights, you may have to purchase an extra battery or two. 

An Intelligent Flight Battery Plus is available, offering a 45-minute flight time. However, this battery’s downside is that the drone’s weight increases to over 250g in many regions.

Camera Quality

The DJI Mini 4 Pro’s image and video quality define it as a solid upgrade for the Mini 3 Pro. 

The drone’s camera features a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with effective 48MP pixels, capturing fantastic low-light shots (12MP) and high-resolution photos (48MP) with adequate light. Also, the Mini 4 Pro maintains its predecessor’s FOV at 82.1°, but DJI could have made it better.

Even so, the upgraded Mini drone surpasses its predecessor with its higher-resolution camera, which suits its premium price. It can capture 4K HDR videos at up to 100fps, while its Mini 3 counterpart handles only up to 60fps.

So, the Mini 4 Pro is an ideal beginner drone for a good camera if your top consideration is camera quality.

Flight Range

DJI has kept the Mini 4 Pro’s flight range the same as its predecessor, the Mini 3 Pro. Hence, the drone maintains the 18km and 25km with the standard and the plus Intelligent Flight Batteries, respectively.

It’s a considerable range for many drone pilots considering you are required to fly within visual line of sight which is a few kilometers. 

The Mini 4 Pro features DJI’s OcuSync 4 video transmission capability. The technology allows you to enjoy smooth 1080p/60 fps FHD live feeds and ultra-responsive control from up to 18 km or 25km, depending on the battery type.

Speed and Maneuverability

The Mini 4 Pro’s maximum speed is 16 m/s in S mode and 12 m/s in N and C modes. Its ascent and descent are 5 m/s for the S and N modes and 3 m/s for the C mode. The drone’s maximum wind resistance is 10.7 m/s.

According to my research, the Mini 4 Pro is one of the fastest-flying camera drones, like its DJI counterparts. 

C Mode is ideal if your primary goal is taking photos and shooting videos. It offers more stability.

Mini 4 Pro is highly maneuverable. It can fly consistently at a specific speed as you maneuver it like a flying sports camera.

Obstacle Avoidance

Mini 4 Pro’s collision avoidance capabilities are remarkable! It has an omnidirectional binocular vision system and a bottom 3D infrared sensor.

The drone has four wide-angled vision sensors: Back, front, left, and right, and two downward vision sensors to detect obstacles proficiently in all directions.

Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) is another fantastic feature of the Mini 4 Pro. It enables automatic bypassing and braking during flights, ensuring a peaceful drone-flying experience.

Battery Life

DJI Mini 3 Pro’s battery quality is an improvement from its predecessor, Mini 2. 

DJI is known to improve battery and flight performance in every new model in an existing series, and the Mini 3 Pro hasn’t been left behind.

Its 80.5 g, 2,453 mAh Intelligent Flight Battery boasts a 34-minute maximum flight time. However, realistic factors such as wind, temperature, and return-to-home may reduce the time your gadget flies to 20-25 minutes.

I still consider that a significant improvement from the original Mavic Mini. 

Also, a Plus option with a 3,850mAh capacity is available. The battery’s maximum flight time is 47 minutes, but it increases the drone’s weight to above 250g, classifying it into another weight category for most regions.

You’ll purchase the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus separately.

Camera Quality

Like most DJI drone models, the Mini 3 Pro has an incredible camera.

Credit goes to the 12MP 1/1.3-inch sensor, which captures 48MP photos with outstanding image quality for such a small, lightweight drone.

However, frame edge sharpness is slightly lost when shooting stills, but it’s typical for most consumer drones. Also, you may notice lateral chromatic aberrations along high-contrast subject edges, but that’s an insignificant issue. 

The drone’s ISO handling is fantastic! Additional noise in raw files for ISO 100-6400 settings is almost zero. Mini 3 Pro maintains the subject’s natural color, allowing you to shoot in any setting.

DJI Mini 3 Pro combines its dual native ISO technology and the fast f/1.7 aperture to produce excellent low-light results.

Its 1/1.3 image sensor with 48MP effective pixels is ideal for high-quality photos and video. The camera offers 4K and FHD video resolutions of up to 60fps and slow motion capabilities of 1920×1080@120fps.

Due to its incredible camera capabilities, the Mini 3 Pro is undoubtedly a drone for amateurs and professionals.

Flight Range

The DJI Mini 3 Pro has two battery types with different maximum flight distances. 

It has an 18 km range when the drone is flown at 12 m/s in windless conditions with a standard Intelligent Flight Battery. The drone offers a 25km flight range with an Intelligent Flight Battery Plus in the same conditions.

Thus, Mini 3 Pro is responsive to commands and can provide vibrant video feeds for a maximum of 25km. That’s pretty amazing!

Speed and Maneuverability

The drone model’s maximum flight speed is 10 m/s (N Mode), 6 m/s (C Mode), and 16 m/s (S Mode) in windless conditions at sea level. 

Mini 3 Pro’s ascent speed is 2 m/s (C Mode), 3 m/s (N Mode), and 5 m/s (S Mode), while the descent one is 1.5 m/s (C Mode), 3 m/s (N Mode), and 5 m/s (S Mode).

Also, you can comfortably fly this drone at a wind speed of up to 6.7 m/s.

The Cine mode speed of 6 m/s enhances camera sensitivity and flight stability for excellent results.

Obstacle Avoidance

The DJI Mini 3 Pro has tri-dimensional obstacle avoidance capabilities (Forward, Downward, and Backward Vision Systems) and an Infrared Sensing System for safe flights.

The features allow collision-free indoor hovering and flying and automatic return-to-home. Your drone can avoid obstacles from front, below, and back.

Ease of Use

Mini 3 Pro is easy to use. Its color setting, exposure, and flight controls are simple and easy to use. 

It also has automated takeoff and landing. Using DJI’s QuickShot option, a beginner can easily capture engaging, dynamic footage.

The drone boasts a 15-minute flight duration but flies for about 11 minutes in reality, depending on the usage. Though it’s lower than most drones on my list, it’s a considerable flying period for indoor flights.

HoverAir  X1 comes with two batteries and a charging station. The 1,050mAh lithium batteries are quickly swappable to enhance extended flight.  

The 41g weight of the batteries maintains the lightweight nature of this compact drone. Hence, X1 is a highly portable action drone.

Camera Quality

HoverAir X1 camera drone captures stunning photos and shoots incredible videos. It supports up to 2.7@30fps and 1080P HDR shooting.

The drone features a triple stabilization system that promotes excellent fast-motion capturing and smooth video effects. Thus, you can easily record fantastic journeys or hike moments.

Flight Range

The maximum flight distance for the HoverAir X1 model is 30m, a considerable range for indoor operations. 

X1 doesn’t have a controller. Instead, it flies with pre-programmed flight paths outlined below:

  • Zoom Out: Gradually captures the surroundings to create a dramatic effect.
  • Bird’s Eye: Records overhead views
  • Follow: Follows the operator from the back or front up to 6 m/s
  • Hover: Films the user from a motionless position for group photos or selfies.

Battery Life

The drone’s 5-minute flight time is relatively considerable for a toy racing drone. It’s one of the best indoor FPV drones. The battery only needs one hour to be fully charged.

Since indoor flights are primarily for fun, the battery capacity and the flying duration are sufficient.

The lightweight battery takes care of the overall drone weight, enhancing portability especially if you want to travel with your drone.

Camera Quality

Tinyhawk version 2 is an upgrade of version one, filling shortcomings of its predecessor, like the unadjustable camera mount angle.  

As a result, the Tinyhawk 2’s camera tilt is upgraded to Runcam Nano 2, which, together with the video transmitter (200mW), enhances video quality. Even so, Runcam Nano 3 would be a better option.

You can also mount any Nano-sized camera to its canopy, allowing you to shoot even better videos, or even giving you an option to have two sets of footage to choose from or combine.

You can easily unscrew the Runcam Nano 2 lens to fix dirt issues and prevent pixel defects, making it easier to maintain..

Further, the drone has an analog video system that eliminates indoor toy drone latency, providing a clear FPV goggle image.  This is a plus since it only takes a few seconds of latency or lost connection to crash your drone.

However, you should still test the drone and find areas where you can fly without losing connection and areas where there may be interference to prevent crashing.

Flight Range

Tinyhawk 2’s maximum flight distance is 30.48 m, which allows you to capture stunning photos and videos from a distance.

Although the signal transmission distance is significantly lower than that of other drones on our list, it’s reasonable for an FPV toy drone.

The Tinyhawk drone’s version 2 model is highly maneuverable, enhancing its fun and ease of use for beginners.

Tinyhawk 2’s maximum speed is about 22 m/s, which is excellent as it’s slightly higher than the average speed of a consumer drone, which is approximately 20 m/s.

Ease of Use
